Wedding Fever

There is too much choice out there!!
I've come to the rapid conclusion that the infinite
source of images and ideas available on the internet
makes one's head hurt.
Oh, how did people ever make decisions
in the old days!????
How did we survive with just the local paper
and hand me downs from scrapbooks made
by relatives, or old photo albums....
My head is spinning with save the dates;
invitations; dresses; and all the million and one things
that go hand in glove with planning the
most precious day in anyone's lives.
My daughter does seem to know what she and Ric
want so it is a huge help.
Well, in the wider sense of 'knowing.'
The venues are booked
so that's a start.
The time will fly by no doubt
so a year is nothing in the great wedding planning scheme of things!!
Some folk take up to two or three years . . .
the nicest thing about Becci and Ric is that they
have decided upon a local, hand-made, vintage-style
wedding.
And that suits them perfectly.
I am so looking forward to going over there
to see what they have in mind in more detail
and talk with the happy couple.
It will be a lovely weekend for us.
Until then thank goodness for 'what's app'!!!!!

It's a BOY!!

A baby boy born
yesterday at 4.25pm.

A future King.

But right now
a wonderful new life
and the apple of his parents eyes.

And the rest of the nation!!

Congratulations Kate and William.

Ideas!!!

So now the engagement has been announced
its time to think about the wedding!!
Becci and Ric have so  many lovely ideas
it is going to be hard to make choices.
Thank goodness for Pinterest Boards!!!
It's too easy to look something up and then pin it...
and the next one, and the next one,
and before you know it you have got an
amazing  array of ideas which you absolutely love -
every single one of 'em!!!!
Planning will be the most important thing in their list
once they return from holiday on cloud 9.
Venues; photographer; dress; flowers; theme;
music; guestlist; cake....ah, baby brother is taking care of that one!
But still, a lot of practice is needed for this one, so I foresee
a terrible amount of cake-eating and icing in the coming
12 months. Volunteers?!!!!

But I suppose the only thing I have to worry about for myself
will be my outfit!!!
OMG! What will I wear?!!!
Traditionally, the entrance of the Mother of the Bride
( oh my, that'll be me)!
and her choice of colours indicates the colours of the
bridesmaids dresses etc.
I am thinking that there will be nothing traditional about
this wedding!!
Do I have to wear a hat?
What about heels?
And a dress?
When did I last wear one of those?!!!
All very scary thoughts really,
so first things first.
LOSE WEIGHT!!!!!
Starting today.
I've got a year roughly I guess . . . . .oh boy.

An announcement!!

My darling daughter Rebecca is
now officially engaged to
Richard Friese-Green!!!

Congratulations to them both
we are absolutely over the moon!!

Becci rang me this morning to tell me
all about it ...so excited!
So glad I am going over to stay for the weekend
next month so we can start
looking for the dress, designing invitations etc.
Becci has got everything in her head already
so I know they will have got most things
listed in her little notepad.
(My daughter loves making lists almost as much as I do)!!

We have talked about the wedding for so long now,
it is wonderful to be ready to make decisions.
Autumn 2014 is what they are thinking of as the date.
I am just going to sit back and listen
to all their ideas and enjoy it through their joy.

A thrilled mummy today.

Sunshine

For once the UK is basking in temperatures over 30C
whilst we have lower ones and cloudy skies.
My daughter is on holiday so she is
reaping the benefit hopefully!!!

I am recovering from an extremely poor nights sleep..
well, can hardly call it sleep.
I was rocked with vivid dreams that kept me
awake through the entire night and only
got up at 10.00 this morning!
I had been down to the cats and woke up to
find Will snuggled down beside me, head on
the other pillow looking like he
had had a wonderful sleep!!!!

I collected my new glasses yesterday
and am testing them for clarity of vision.
Always strange when one changes to a new
prescription.
Not sure whether I am 100% delighted with them yet . .
I went to the summer sale to get two for the price of one
so not very upmarket or expensive glasses.
Still, I did the same three years ago and they have served
me well, so I must be satisfied I guess.
This time I went for a neutral grey colour
that will go with everything!!
Bit like my hair colour does!!
And some prescription sunglasses of course.
They are rather racy ones!

I just need some sun now to try them for size...

I'm not a happy bunny at the moment.
There are things happening around me that make me very sad
and confused and not knowing what to do about them.
It's the usual dilemma:
do something or do nothing and wait til it's run it's course?
In the past I would have called it my 'Run away to Alaska' Mood!!!!!
The 'make an impulsive decision and see what happens' mood....
'trust to destiny and fate' mood.....
the 'I don't know any more' mood.
Advice, anyone?

First dull morning

for a while so sitting indoors longer!
Where has the sun gone?
More importantly, will it come back?!
By all accounts it will so not too
worried really.
Must do work indoors this morning then!!

All the afternoons of supporting Andy Murray
are over.
He won!!!
It will never be quite the same tension as before
though - we have our winner.
After 77 years that is pretty good news.
I was glad for Bartoli as well as I wanted her
to win. Job well done to both.

My knee is coming along nicely thanks!
It was pushed to the limit by a long drive
at the weekend but I managed.
Just a little tightness on the motorway
but it passed. No lasting damage!
I had a lovely afternoon at Ineke and Jan's
25th Wedding Celebration.
The weather was perfect and the location super,
and the catering excellent.
Nice to have a chat or two as well.
They had everything so well organized.
Now they can relax and enjoy the memories
and the many, many photographs!!

So I thought it an idea to catch up with my blog
but I don't have much news to relate...
head feeling rather musty I guess.

Back to work!

Two weeks since my operation
and I am back to work!!!
Its just a gentle start
which is nice.
More intensive next week.
Today it is raining here
but the other days look
smashing.
Sunday promises
to be glorious
so must make sure I have my summers on!!!
Still undecided what to wear, Ineke!
I don't own a dress . . . . .
or high heels . . . . .
most likely scenario will be
'what fits on the day'!!!
What I can get into without a
struggle.
Have decided on my necklace
so making progress!!!
Looking forward to it. xx

Good progress

I am growing increasingly
confident that my ability to walk, drive and cycle
is improving - yey!!!
It's not super but it is getting better every day.
I still need the pressure bandage but
the knee is healing nicely now
and although still swollen
the bruises etc are coming out
and will soon disappear.
Taking the crutches back tomorrow.
Buying a new tyre for my bike tomorrow.
Going back to work on Wednesday.
Sticking to my diet as well as possible.
(had to try the lovely food yesterday
at Ann's though!).
Hoping my white linen trousers will fit
easily on Sunday.

I have decided to try BENTO.
We have been looking for a better
and more healthy way to take
lunches to work for ages now,
and I have been a fan of Bento
much longer.
Now all I have to do is introduce it to
my other half.
I know he likes Japanese food
so it ought to be a cinch!!!
We were looking for recipes over the weekend
and my assertions that the best ones come from
the Mediterranean seem to be sinking in.
A little.
Perhaps Bento will appeal more?
Hoping to surprise him!!!
"Things we do for love" . . . . . .
